Progressive Democrat Roxanne “Rocky” Lara outraised Tea Party incumbent Steve Pearce in the final quarter of 2013, according to FEC campaign reports filed today.   Lara is seeking to unseat Pearce, New Mexico’s lone Tea Party congressman.   Another announced Democrat challenger, Leslie Singh, had not posted her report as of mid-afternoon but with Lara’s lead over Pearce, it is clear that Democrats outraised Republican Pearce in the last quarter.

According to Federal Election Commission reports for the final quarter of 2013, October – December, the candidates raised:

  1. Roxanne “Rocky” Lara:  $163,039
  2. Steve Pearce: $132,092

Lara, who announced her campaign in September, closed 2013 with $227,241 cash-on-hand.  Pearce, who has been raising dollars as the incumbent, reports $1,093,158.

In September, a poll by ProgressNowNM showed that Pearce was vulnerable to a Democratic challenger after Tea Party conspirators in the House shutdown the government.
