AFT NEW MEXICO ANNOUNCES 2014 STATEWIDE ENDORSEMENT
AFT New Mexico, which represents over 23,000 educators and is one of the largest unions in the state, has announced statewide endorsements, including its endorsement of Howie Morales for Governor.
“Howie Morales is an educator and a strong advocate for our students. He understands New Mexico’s unique history, challenges and potential and has expertise in education policy. Under the current administration, we have seen an all-out assault on our students, schools and educators. It is time for a governor who will put our students and our state first,” says AFT New Mexico President Stephanie Ly.
AFT New Mexico has also endorsed the following candidates:
Deb Haaland for Lt. Governor
Maggie Toulouse Oliver for Secretary of State
John Wertheim for State Treasurer

“We have a great slate of candidates who are committed to improving the lives of New Mexicans and ensuring great public education opportunities from birth through career. These are individuals of integrity who will do what it takes to stand up for New Mexico’s children and families,” says Tim Crone, Chair of the AFT NM Committee on Political Education.
AFT New Mexico also has endorsed Hector Balderas for Attorney General. That endorsement was announced in 2013.
