There is no question George Lovato, Jr. is a successful small businessman. In the early 1980s, Lovato founded Rent Rite Car Rental Systems Inc., the eighth-largest car rental company in the country, and replicated that success in the 1990s with a large audiobook company. Now he manages BH Capitol, LLC helping other small businesses grow.
He also hosts a popular online video series for small businesses with more than 3 million views online. His viewers know him as a conservative Republican, too. Lovato even caught the attention of Susana Martinez when she first ran for governor when she met with him and promised big changes to help business. But that didn’t happen and now he’s speaking out.
But you won’t see Lovato in any of the governor’s TV commercials praising Susana Martinez for her work helping small business. No, this Republican small business champion is not voting for Susana Martinez and here’s why:
“She’s inaccessible. Small business doesn’t have access to the governor’s office. There’s no conduit. I’m very disappointed, and I’ve heard from many of my friends in business here in New Mexico who say they feel they’ve just been left out, neglected.”
Susana Martinez is all hat and no cattle when it comes to helping small business and growing jobs. And George Lovato, Jr. isn’t the first business expert saying it.
A national business publication has ranked Gov. Susana Martinez among the last among governors in terms of job creation…
The New Mexican reported in early January that New Mexico was last in the nation in terms of job growth between January 2010 and September 2012. – Santa Fe New Mexican, July 3, 2013
