Another New Mexico race is heating up over the issue of voter fraud. And once again, its not Republicans crying foul.
Dianna Duran has run statewide ads claiming she won convictions for voter fraud (she can’t) and is committed to finding more. She even ran an ad saying her opponent registered a dog to vote – ignoring the fact that we outed the man who registered the dog to vote for being the husband of a Republican operative for a statewide GOP campaign. Duran never pursued that case.
Now House District 16 voters on Albuquerque’s Westside are getting a taste of the voter fraud message themselves as State Rep. ‘Moe’ Maestas comes with a mailer and audio ad reminding voters that his opponent, GOP candidate Johnny Luevano, registered and voted from a vacant lot in the district two years ago.
After ProgressNowNM exposed Luevano, KOB TV tracked him down and an Albuquerque judge tossed him off the ballot.
Maestas comes after Luevano for it all, less than a week before polls close.
Maestas uses ProgressNowNM’s story and video explaining the case in his mailer.
Here’s the audio of the ad Maestas’ campaign released in a press release Monday.
