Is the Barack Obama we elected finally showing up?
That’s the question many Obama supporters are asking after a series of proactive policy announcements by the White House have the President pushing back on Republican recalcitrance and standing up for strong progressive values.
Here are just a few examples from Twitter when we searched for Barack Obama and progressive:

Sometimes Obama almost looks like a progressive. The Cuban 5 have been released, finally. Good news for once… http://t.co/XHzLwXS5HT

So Obama’s gonna propose a tax hike on the wealthy? I love that progressive Obama’s finally coming out of his shell in his last two years!

Notably, most every one includes “finally.”
Will the new progressive President Obama inspire progressive voters who turned out in droves for him in 2008 (and to a lesser extent in 2012) but stayed home in 2014? Only time will tell. But in the meantime, we can enjoy watching conservative leaders go ape sh*t over the president’s new found enthusiasm for governing.
