The country took a pause Wednesday morning as they waited, glued to TV and Twitter, for news from the GOP Congressional baseball team practice shooting in Alexandria, Virginia.

New Mexico’s lone Republican member of Congress was at the field when shots rang out and he gave a first-hand account via video shortly thereafter.

New Mexico’s Senators and other Congresspersons offered their own takes as well as news filtered out.  Here’s a look.

And Congressman Pearce gave his own account of being pinned down by the shooter.

Shortly after the Alexandria shooting, news of a workplace shooting at a UPS facility in San Francisco also added to the headlines from the day.

But these two shootings are far too common in America.
