Vote – Just Go Vote… #WhoWeElectMatters
You have One more day, Albuquerque. Today is Thursday, September 28th. One more day, for what? One more day to vote in the Albuquerque municipal election EARLY. Go vote, folks. #WhoWeElectMatters.
The only way we can ensure our public sector and its officials represent hardworking Albuquerque families, invest in our communities and protect our diversity is for us all to exercise our most basic democratic right – to VOTE!
As it stands, on Monday of this week, according to voter file research, 37 – yes, you read that right, thirty-seven Albuquerque voters, TOTAL, between the ages of eighteen and twenty, have voted! Not thirty-seven percent, not thirty-seven hundred – no, just one person over three-dozen, aka, 37 folks between eighteen and twenty years old, have voted so far!
That’s simply not okay, Albuquerque. To date, there have been more Mayoral candidate forums than there have been voters in the 18-20 age range. With a city stretched at the seams, and looking for an answer, the youngest and sometimes most deserving and desiring of change, really aren’t turning out to the polls – so far.
There are ballot initiatives that are important to us all. There are candidates a many – eight in a race that will force a run-off election between the candidates who pull the highest percentage of the vote. That means you have to vote on or before October 3rd, and you will likely be called back to the polls to vote once again, with your “final answer,” November 8th.
Consider your options, talk to your neighbors, attend one of the remaining forums, and then go vote. Municipal level elections are where change is influenced most immediately. As an outlet for information, keeping people aware, informed and engaged, is always our focus. We urge you to keep the focus as we head toward October 3rd and November 8th and push your friends and fellow community members to vote. We appreciate it and you.
