On Saturday, April 1, 2017, the Recuerda a César Chávez Committee (RCCC) –a not-for-profit, volunteer-led organization– is thrilled to host the 24th Annual César Chávez Day celebration in Albuquerque! The legendary Dolores Huerta will be our honored guest and keynote speaker! We invite you and your members to join us in marking the anniversary of the birth of a unique and humble leader, César Chávez, who led the historic non-violent movement for farm worker rights and inspired millions of people to seek social justice and civil rights for the poor and disenfranchised in our society.
The day will begin at 9:00am with a ribbon cutting and ceremony for the newly named “Dolores Huerta South Valley Gateway Park” (Isleta & Bridge Blvd SW). The March for Justice will begin at the Park at 10:30am, followed by a free, family-friendly community festival at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) from noon to 3:30pm with cultural performances, food, info booths, a kids’ corner and a concert by Kiko Villamizar and Calle 66. Shuttle service will be provided throughout the day to and from the NHCC and Gateway Park celebration in Albuquerque!
