It is just over two weeks away! The 2018 Progressive Action Summit is approaching. This year’s Summit will mark the third from ProgressNow New Mexico, in two years. This year, we’ve expanded our reach by reaching out to our Progressive Alliance partners, America Votes and the Center for Civic Policy. As a trio, with added capacity and collaboration from El Centro de Igualidad y Derechos, Olé, Equality New Mexico, Working Families, and more – we are bringing Albuquerque a day of action like never seen before!

Transparent, honest, ethical politics – our gift to New Mexicans

Don’t miss out on an opportunity to join a network of state-wide progressive activists, organizations, and the elected officials who represent them/us. This is an opportunity to take action in our New Mexico communities, to ensure we continue to resist the advances of groups like AFP and ALEC in New Mexico. We can fight back together. Please consider joining us on January 20th.

Look forward to breakout sessions that touch on topics like “alternative” approaches to economic development, race class and gender in politics, tapping the permanent fund for early childhood education, approaching New Mexico’s opioid epidemic, and how to be a good neighbor to Albuquerque’s unsheltered populations, just to name a few.

Enjoy opening remarks by some of New Mexico’s progressive champions – leaders who have helped to assure accountability in our election processes, improve opportunities for our youth, and pushed for real growth of New Mexico’s economy. At lunch, you’ll hear from Gubernatorial candidates as to why they’re right for your vote and for our state. Needless to say, there will not be a dull moment on January 20th. Tickets will sell and sell fast – don’t wait to buy yours at the door.

Enough is enough – a call to end sexual violence

Our political world is one of explicit and implicit power differentials. We stand together to call an end to a culture that supports men using power and privilege in political environments to harass, intimidate, and sexually violate women and LGTBQ people. Stand with us, sign the petition below.

What is “Preemption” and Why is Nate Gentry Obsessed With It?

pre·emp·tion
prēˈem(p)SH(ə)n/
noun
1. the purchase of goods or shares by one person or party before the opportunity is offered to others. 2. the action of preempting or forestalling, especially of making a preemptive attack.

You may have heard the word “preemption” floating around the world of New Mexico politics lately like an annoying gnat you can’t quite see but won’t seem to leave you alone.
