Now that Melania Trump has given Michelle Obama’s convention speech and an underwear model/soap opera star has explained how he knows that President Obama is “absolutely a Muslim,” what’s next for Donald Trump’s RNC?
A full day of all that crazy would have some thinking twice, but not New Mexico’s Republicans reports the Albuquerque Journal. “New Mexico delegates stand with Trump” was the front-page headline after Day 1 of the Cleveland Circus this week.
Speeches on Day 1 highlighted the GOP’s commitment to helping “Muslims, Hispanics, African Americans, the poor, and the middle class.”
Naturally, we know better and we aren’t letting that record go unchecked.
Here’s your guide to Fact Checking Donald Trump’s Republican Convention, complete with New Mexico examples. Happy Tweeting!
How does this work?
Check out the (probably not real, but really funny) Tweets from Gov. Martinez’s administration and top GOP leaders, then use the links below to send those messages or craft your own.
When Republicans say “we need new programs to help the poor”…
When, like Melania did Monday, they say “we need new programs to help the poor,” remind them that staff in Republican Governor Martinez’s administration “pled the 5th” almost 100 times to avoid prosecution for altering food stamp applications so that our poorest and hungriest residents couldn’t eat.
And even after a federal judge told them to make a plan to fix it, they didn’t. So now the Gov’s top anti-poverty appointee is facing contempt charges in federal court.
That’s a plan for the poor Republicans can be proud of.
When Republicans say “where are these contributions that have been made by these other categories of people that you’re talking about, where did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization?”…
Remind them that the New Mexico GOP’s 2016 Top-of-the-Ticket candidate proposed banning Hispanic heritage books during her tenure on the state’s House Education Committee.
When they say that Trump’s Veepstakes winner passed “some of the most outrageous restrictions [on women] in the country”…
Tell them New Mexico Republicans tried to go much further and if they win a few more seats in the State Senate this election, they’ll have their chance.
Take a moment to share some other eyebrow-raising moments from Donald Trump’s #RacistNationalConvention
Yep. The Republican National Committee actually had “White Elevator” signs (read why) and no one seemed to notice until the “liberal” media showed up and started asking why.
Meanwhile, Paul Ryan tried to distract from the Cleveland circus by posting this photo of himself and the Republicans’ Congressional interns.
He apparently didn’t get it until a few thousand people on social media pointed it out.
But Donald Trump had a plan to respond to claims that the GOP was #SoWhite.
MSNBC is interviewing Omarosa from The Apprentice; she is Donald Trump’s new Director of African-American Outreach.
This is real.

Yep. That’s today’s Republican Party and, as the Journal told us, New Mexico’s Republicans are proud to be a part of it.
