Last fall, our boots-on-the-ground grassroots movement helped ensure we elected more progressive legislators to office.
This January, we pushed progressive policy issues to the forefront at the Legislature.
It’s now June, which means our calendar is stacked with municipal elections, legislative interim committees and a clock that’s counting the days until primary season!
Fortunately, our Progress Now New Mexico team is growing to help keep you informed every step of the way! We’re excited to welcome another team member ready to fight battles on behalf of our progressive community.
Meet Marianna Anaya, our new Progress Now New Mexico Communications Associate!
Marianna has already started her on-the-gound work for Progress Now New Mexico, covering the Beyond Carbon Initiative, as well as the contentious contract negotiations between healthcare workers and UNM Hospital.
Marianna was born and raised in Albuquerque’s North Valley. She comes to us from the Albuquerque Teachers Federation by way of former Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham’s office. After studying Mexican-American Studies and Race & Ethnic Studies in Education at both UT Austin and UCLA, she returned home to the land she loves. Passionate about preserving public education, expanding Intersectional Studies in our K-12 schools, and electing more women and LGBTQ leaders to office, Marianna lends her progressive vision to our community as President of Emerge New Mexico and as a former board member of GLSEN Albuquerque. A proud dog mom, she enjoys backyard projects, gardening and being in the mountains.
