In case you haven’t noticed, New Mexico’s politics are a mess.

Hanna Skandera’s “bold change” education policies took New Mexico’s graduation rates from bad to “worst in the country,” Republican union-busting “jobs” policies created fewer jobs, not more and Governor Martinez’s leadership just earned us the dubious rating of “worst run government in the country.”

This has to stop – and we have a plan.

We’re fighting back and we (and you!) are not alone:  Our progressive news outlet, progressnownm.org, has been read more than 446,000 times since the last election and we’re generating more than 1,100 new digital media conversations every day – all challenging conservative spin and spreading real progressive solutions.

We’re New Mexico’s most read progressive news source for a reason.

I want to personally welcome you to ProgressNow New Mexico. We’re here for just one reason: to speak up for New Mexico’s progressive majority.

Before you forget, now’s the time to sign up for our occasional emails that make you the most informed progressive on your block.

We’ve been called “Governor Martinez’s harshest critic” and the progressive group who is “not afraid to win.”  But don’t take our word for it.

If you’re still not exactly sure who we are, or what we do, here’s what the MSNBC, the Santa Fe New Mexican and a few other news outlets say about us:

Yep. Both MSNBC and Fox News watch us to know what’s happening in New Mexico politics.

But here’s the deal: we’re not here to help Democrats or harass Republicans. We don’t care if elected officials have an R or a D next to their name.

We’re simply speaking up for people who want to return to government made up of us. Nothing more and nothing less than citizens banding together to solve problems none of us can solve alone.

That’s it.

So, sit back and watch your email (or join us on Facebook here) (It’s Friday – we wouldn’t ask too much).  In the meantime, here’s a little background to tell you a little about how we became New Mexico’s largest grassroots progressive organization.

If you want to make sure New Mexico is on the right track, you’re in the right place.

Warmest regards,

Pat Davis

What does it mean to be a progressive?

Progressivism, of course, stands for progress. The progressive spirit envisions a day when every citizen is equal under the law and each person has an equal voice in the process of democracy. Progressives stand for the American ideals of inclusion, opportunity, equality, and freedom for all. Thus, progressives champion marriage equality, comprehensive immigration reform, environmental safeguards, the protection of public education and public employees, and an end to the influx of corporate cash flowing into our political processes. Progressives understand how important facts and the free-flow of information are; thus they stand for Internet freedom and the advancement of STEM education, while conservatives largely align themselves with corporate interests and the anti-scientific misinformation that is responsible for – among other things – the menacing growth of man-made climate change.

What We Do

ProgressNow New Mexico provides a unified voice for progressive groups on the issues that matter most to New Mexicans. We accomplish this task by providing issue and opinion research, message development, and one-on-one technical assistance to progressive groups.
Our organization works directly with the public and the media on progressive activities and issues. ProgressNow New Mexico’s tactics are dynamic and creative, so they get attention.
We know that not everyone has access to expensive tools for online organizing and communications and that buying television and radio time is also costly. But together, through ProgressNow New Mexico, our state’s progressive community can use these tools and techniques to amplify their own messages and join in the growing chorus of the larger progressive movement.
